At A Giant’s ELC, Helping Hands Week is our way of showing children that even small actions can make a big difference. This theme gives your child real opportunities to practice responsibility, teamwork, and kindness while learning why helping others matters.

Building Responsibility Through Classroom Jobs

Children were given simple roles like line leader, snack helper, and clean-up captain. These small jobs are not just chores—they teach follow-through, independence, and pride in taking care of their classroom.

What we focus on: building confidence, supporting language skills, and helping children understand how their actions support the whole group.

Teamwork and Good Habits

Using visual chore charts and group clean-up routines, teachers guided children through tasks that encourage cooperation and problem-solving. When children work side by side—organizing toys, tidying centers, or helping a classmate—they learn self-control, patience, and how to be part of a team.

Learning From the Helpers Around Us

We ended the week with a Community Helper moment and a simple Thank-a-Teacher activity. Children learned who helps them every day and practiced expressing appreciation through drawings and little notes. This supports gratitude, social skills, and emotional awareness.

Bringing Helping Hands Home

Parents received a list of age-appropriate tasks so children can continue practicing at home—like setting the table, sorting laundry, or feeding pets. These activities strengthen responsibility and help children feel capable and valued.

Helping Hands Week shows children that helping others is part of who we are as a school community. By practicing these habits early, children learn to be confident, caring, and ready to take on new responsibilities.
